October 2007

The severe draught and very hot temperatures has made it really hard to produce quality or quantity the season, but especially this fall.
Just compare these photos to those taken in Oct of 2006...

The lettuce seedlings have survived so far - but I tasted them
over the weekend and they were so bitter
I had to spit them out.
 (Dang!)

More lettuce seedlings

And How Weird is This...
(Things you wouldn't expect to see October!)

Lilly of the Valley bulbs emerging in the shade
(They bloomed this past spring too)

Peony (they DIDN'T emerge this spring...)

Crocus Flowers Blooming (Tripper on guard)
I don't know about you - but I have never seen Crocus flowers
emerging in newly fallen autumn leaves...

Turnips, Kale, Mustards emerging (I'm not tasting THEM!)

An apple tree in full bloom

Snap Dragons, Petunias, (and that's Basil in the background!)
Photo taken November 2nd!
