Join us for a moderate to easy hike through the woodland, lake, stream, and open field trails here Sanders Ridge. Trail Guide Ron Morris (NC Zoo's General Curator from 1993 to 2006. See bio below) will point out and introduce participants to Bird and plant species found along the trail and will be available to answer questions during and after the walk.
Ron Morris is The North Carolina Zoo’s first Curator of Birds (from 1982 to 1993). As the Zoo's General Curator from 1993 to 2006, he was in charge of the care and management of all the Zoo’s animals and animal care staff, and was instrumental in planning and designing Zoo exhibits. Retiring in 2006 after 32 years in the zoo profession, Ron has led eco-safaris to Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, Australia and Belize, and has traveled extensively in Europe, Mexico, the US and the Caribbean. Ron is President-elect of Audubon Society of Forsyth County and Co-authors the Bird’s Eye View with Phil Dickinson. He lives in Winston-Salem with his wife Roseann Rush and their 3 cats.
